Pecan Praline Cake
Ingredients
Cake:
1 box butter pecan cake mix
1 cup water
1/3 cup vegetable oil
4 large eggs
1 container (16 oz) coconut pecan frosting (mixed into the batter)
Praline Topping:
1/2 cup unsalted butter
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1/4 cup milk
1 cup chopped pecans
Instructions
1. Prepare the Cake:
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking dish.
In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, water, oil, eggs, and coconut pecan frosting.
Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes until smooth.
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30-40 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Allow the cake to cool slightly in the pan.
2. Make the Praline Topping:
In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
Add brown sugar and milk, stirring continuously. Bring to a gentle boil and let it simmer for 2-3 minutes, until slightly thickened.
Remove from heat, then stir in the chopped pecans.
3. Assemble:
Poke small holes in the cake with a skewer or fork.
Pour the warm praline topping over the cake, letting it seep into the holes and coat the top.
4. Serve:
Let the cake cool to room temperature, allowing the praline topping to set.
Slice and serve!
