Old school spaghetti with just ground beef no sausage

Written by otman

Ingredients

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes

1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce

1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste

1 1/2 cups water

2 teaspoons dried basil

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon sugar (optional, to balance acidity)

1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for a bit of heat)

1/2 cup fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

1 pound spaghetti, cooked according to package directions

Instructions:

1. Brown the Ground Beef: In a large skillet or pot, brown the ground beef over medium-high heat until no longer pink. Drain excess fat.

2. Season and Sauté: Add the salt, pepper, chopped onions, and minced garlic. Sauté until onions are softened, about 5 minutes.

3. Add Tomato Products: Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, and tomato paste, mixing until well combined. Add water to reach desired consistency.

4. Add Seasonings: Sprinkle in basil, oregano, sugar, and red pepper flakes (if using). Bring to a simmer.

5. Simmer: Reduce heat to low, cover, and let the sauce simmer for 30-45 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.

6. Serve: Toss cooked spaghetti in the sauce or ladle it over the top. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
